Trains planes and Christmas shopping
18-12-2009There is nothing worse than breaking into a sprint only to get to the platform as the train door closes. Actually there is, it’s worse when this happens and you are already late, left standing, watching the train pull away as some smug old biddy shakes her head conspiratorially – as if she would never ever be left legging it to catch the train. grrrrr!
Not that I can really be complaining, I have a half day today and a Christmas lunch so good times are ahead. I actually only am taking a half day as I didn’t realise I had any time left to take off, turns out I had 2 1/2 days (the hard little worker bee I am was oblivious to this fact until my boss kindly pointed it out). So half day today means I get to go home as soon as the Christmas lunch wraps up so I can finish my Christmas shopping.
Shopping after a Christmas lunch could be very interesting indeed, I must keep the consumption of the mulled wine fairly low otherwise who knows what I could be putting in peoples stockings over the holidays.
The upside is I have most of the ‘big things’ got. We do secret santa at home and I have most of that sorted, only a few small bits to finish it off, I have the boyfriends Christmas present mostly wrapped up (pun intended) and most of his birthday present (yes I am cursed with the double whammy at this time of year – the inconsiderate so and so that he is!!) and a few other people bought for so that leaves today fairly hassle free. I hope.
