Sunday Night Blues
10-01-2010I have a full blown case of the Sunday night blues. Mainly due to the fact that I know I have so much work in front of me this week and what not. Plus the weekend always seems to go so fast! I can never imagine Monday and Tuesday going as fast as their two predecessors.
I am the type of person who loves to stay up late on Friday night just so that it will be Friday for as long as possible. Once you head off to the land of nod you wake up and its late on a Saturday morning and sure the weekend in practically over then as no one ever counts Sunday as a proper part of the weekend. Sundays are those days that float in limbo usually spent nursing a hangover and reiterating over and over again that you wish tomorrow wasn’t Monday.
Plus it seems like this weekend didn’t really happen at all as the snow had most of Dublin confined indoors. We had plans for Saturday night which went by the way side thats to the cold snap that has decided to engulf the country for the foreseeable future. Thats not to say Saturday night wasn’t fun. On the contrary we actually got to go outside and enjoy proper snow. You know, the snow that is fluffy, light and impeccably white. Not that compacted trodden over, brown slush we have been so used to seeing. Proper snow man building snow. Which is exactly what we did – built a snow man. I don’t mean to toot my own horn but beep beep, he was epic complete with eyes, carrot nose, scarf and top hat. No skimming on our snow man I can tell you. He was however the victim of a vicious drunken assault it would seem. In all his glorious form it would seem that he made for excellent snowball artillery during a drunken amble home from the pub. Still, it is Dublin and I bet even the real frosty couldn’t have survived the onslaught of happy-go-lucky scamps on their way home from the pub.
Still we got some good pictures from our midnight frolics in the snow, at least I can have a nosey at them tomorrow, a ray of sunlight and happiness in my dreary Monday. A bit dramatic? Perhaps. But I can live with it.
