Old Mother Hubbard
01-03-2010I have to go shopping. Not any kind of shopping I enjoy like say for instance shoe shopping. (It's my one girly vice). No such luck, the shopping I have to do is grocery shopping. So bad is the current state of my cupboards that old Mother Hubbard aint got shit on me. Bare is not the word, tumbleweeds have been spotted blowing across the barren land that is my fridge.
Normally things don't get this bad, it's just that this month the finances have been somewhat stretched. The now infamous 'cold snap' that gripped the country throughout most of Jan left us with a rather heavy stinging gas bill and a crushing electric bill not to mention having to actually admit that my glasses were in fact lost rather than misplaced meant I had to brace myself for a rather heartbreaking bill to get my eyes retested and two new pairs of glasses. Two so that when I lose the first pair I don't have to endure another costly eye exam.
So the grocery shopping awaits and in an effort to avoid it I have come on here to moan about it, which apparently I do very well. It's not just the actual task it's also how busy Tesco's tends to be on a Monday night. It almost seems as if every person there has been avoiding the place as much as me and now having no other choice other than to die of starvation, they have taken the horrific decision to do the weekly / bi weekly shop. Judging by the looks on their faces most of them seem as happy to be there as me. So everyone tends to be unsmiling and jostling and rudely bumping trolleys as they try to grasp the last packet of noodles or the one decent pepper left. It's just not a pleasant task.
And yet I must go. If anyone sees an article on the news later tonight detailing an assault in Tesco's over the last unbruised bag of apples, it wasn't me

I feel exactly the same about food shopping! Sounds like an accurate description of Clarehall!
I went to Tesco on my own up here one evening mid week last week though and it was very quiet - was a great time to go! I'm still trying to convince the other half to try out ordering online.

I was seriously tempted to try the online thing last night only Derek was against it - boo hiss boo.
Was the same as always up there last night, people in jammies, rude people treating trolleys like bumper cars, kids running around screaming on a sugar high from all the grapes they ate while waiting on their parents to finish in the fruit and veg aisle. You know how it is lol
