When I'm 68
03-03-2010That infamous Beatles song could have been oh so different. Although I don't think it would have worked so well.
Today the new pension age was passed and it is a disgraceful 68.
68 years of age, can you imagine your grandparents having t work to that age because they cannot afford to quit work without being able to claim their pension. Some people will have no choice but to work until they can collect their state pension and setting this age at 68 is a downright disgrace! While it is one thing for a person in an office to work until closer to that mark, what about those in more manual jobs, those that do not have the skill set to work in an office, those people that are on their feet all day long?
There will indeed be a large proportion of the population who can retire before this age, and they can choose to do so if they wish, but what about those people that can't. Its just so unfair. If you feel fit enough to work up until the age of 68 then thats great but if you are not in good enough health then you are screwed. Tough luck. Sucks to be you.
The age should have stayed at 65, if you want to work beyond that age that is fine, the choice is yours. But thats the important thing, you have a choice.
Apparently choice is much too costly an option.

Don't worry, the way you work yourself too hard you won't reached 68

See this could almost be misconstrued as sarcastic...
