One of those days
27-04-2010Ever feel like you are having 'one of those days'. Those days when the work keeps piling up. Those days when after almost a full day in the office you feel no further forward than when you started that morning. One of those days that see's you dig and dig through the mountain on work only to feel you seem to be digging down instead of up. One of those days when you wish you the answers for absolutely everything and a little bit more.
Today is my 'one of those days'.
Back from a long weekend, the emails have piled up, the workload has had time to gather dust and somehow double while I was out of the office and I am struggling to see my computer screen due to the mountains of 'stuff to be done' sitting on my desk.
Would I change it for all the tea in China? (Apparently in this analogy China has a lot of tea). Not a chance.
Yes it's true some days are so tough it's hard to ever envision getting through everything that has to be done, ticked off and completed. Some days the term 'lunch break' is an illusion similar to that of an ocean in the desert. Yet as I sit here stealing 5 minutes to grab a cup of coffee and I take to the world on the internet to voice my irritation I know deep down I wouldn't have it any other way.
I love the challenge and I thrive under pressure. The ever looming deadline is a great way to get everything prioritised. So really I can't complain. This is my chosen path and nothing ever worth having is easy. So a late(ish) evening lies ahead with a lot on this week it has to be done and when I finally clear my desk, tick the boxes and have everything completed I will feel a certain sense of satisfaction, the kind that only comes after a hard days work as you sit down to a well deserved glass of vino.
