Up up and away
13-05-2010As I had previously mentioned, yesterday everything in the office was a little askew thanks to taking a trip back to cave times and trying to work without electricity. After all our office cleaning and de-cluttering, I did get a bit of good 'work related' news. I got promoted!
Moving up the ladder in your career is always great but the really nice thing was getting to hear just how appreciated the work I do is, by both people in the office and clients. It was even nicer to know that I am headed in the right direction with the tasks I am given.
I know others, friends and family alike, who work for years in their place of employment and not once do they hear a word of thanks or a word of praise and more often than not they hear far too much criticism for the smallest things. It is things like these that can really damage a person’s moral. Nothing gets work done faster or better than a little 'well done' every now and again. A lot of employees are still very old school in that respect - yell, and it will get done, yell louder and it will get done faster. I am very lucky in that respect. I have always said I love my job and that has as much to do with who I work for and who I work with as much as the what I do for a living.
In other 'Up up and away' related topics (actually the title has more to do with this news than the work stuff – sounds a bit pompous!!), myself and the other half are heading on a hot air balloon ride on June 19th. It was a Christmas present but we held off on booking it until the weather got a bit warmer. I can't wait to go, I know I am terrified of heights but it is something I have always wanted to try out, I imagine it's kind of romantic, a champagne hot air balloon ride, can't beat that. Sure it's an early morning start - having to be on the road for 5am on a Saturday is never an ideal experience, but imagine being up there in the basket, sailing over small towns and villages, admiring the country side in the early morning dew, sipping champagne. My god I really am a hopeless romantic, ah, I don't care, mock me as you may but I am looking forward to it
