Time, it's all relative
15-06-2010I never have enough time. Ever. My mum reckons in a few years I am going to burn out if I keep going at the rate I am going. There is always something happening, something to go to, something I am working at, the list is endless.
She ate the bake of me after I came back from Liverpool saying she hoped I was going to take some time to relax and chill out since last week was crazy to say the least. It all began on the bank holiday Monday when, surprise surprise I was working all day, until half 7. Tuesday wasn’t so bad, just a late evening in work but I was home just after 7pm. Wednesday was the first 6am start, long day at work in bed at about half 12 after spending the evening packing for Belfast and Liverpool and doing my washing. Thursday morning was another 6am start, busy day at work and the half day I was meant to be taking in order to give myself plenty of time for travelling, gradually descended into leaving work an hour early to run and catch the bus. Three hours later I arrived in Belfast, ate a pizza, got showered and hit the town. Back into my friends house for half four, thankfully sober but unbelievably shattered, before crashing into bed.
Up an hour and a half later to catch a flight to Liverpool and then followed the two days of madness in Liverpool with a few snatched hours sleep at some point.
Back into Belfast on Sunday afternoon, exhausted and a tid bit hung-over, to meet the other half, grab some food, a shower and then out in town to catch his comedy contest.
I was zombielike and I did the stupid thing on downing some red bull which only served to have me tossing and turning all Sunday night.
Naturally when I regaled my mummy with my tales she was a bit concerned. She has been harping on for ages that if I have a work event that has me working late or working weekends then I should start passing on the nights out and the social side of things. Or that is I have a lot happening in a social capacity then I shouldn’t work so late in the evenings where possible. Or at least not work from home when I get through the door in the evenings. She might have a point.
Cue a promise on Monday afternoon that my week ahead was pretty quiet and I was spend it relaxing and getting out of work on time each evening. Alas it was not meant to be. I have a work event that I am working at tonight, another work event / company rebranding on Thursday evening, the other half's comedy contest on Friday night (whoop whoop make sure you cast your vote!), a half 5 start on Saturday morning for the balloon ride and a birthday drinks get together in town on the Saturday night.
Busy little bee I am. Maybe next week it will be a little quieter...
