TWEETel dee and tweedle dum

Recently I have begun to follow the satirical ramblings of a genius on Twitter - Madam Editor. The account is a parody, and it seems it was created solely for comedic purposes, or perhaps someone is going to great lengths to get fired and make headline news while doing so, or it could be a mixture of both.

The object of fun? The feared and revered femme fatale herself, Geraldine Kennedy, Editor of the Irish Times. Now I have never met the woman so I cannot pass comment, but I have heard the stories. Let us just say that rumour has it that she runs a tight ship while seemingly maintaining aloof from the everyday grind that is a 'real job'.

The interesting part, is that the 'tweets's are coming from inside the ranks. Comments are often made about the everyday goings on in the offices of the countries biggest selling newspaper. But the perpetrator remains undisclosed. More than likely because he or she fear for their lives never mind their job. There are some classics which have made me giggle as Madam Editor is portrayed as a snob with a love of hobnobs, gin and all things that would not appear in a red top publication.

While some people will no doubt think I am insane for finding this amusing, trust me in the worlds of PR, Advertising and Journalism this is entertaining us all. It's like when computer geeks think a T Shirt with the slogan 'I am not skiving off work, I am waiting for my code to compile' is funny. Take my word for it, I know of at least two people that will snigger when they read that.

If you fancy checking out the musings of ‘not Gezza Kennedy’ you can find her here.

In other non dull PR news, I have banjaxed my ankle yet again! I tore some ligaments and tendons in my ankle when I was younger, the result of which is now that at the spritely age of 25 I have the weakest right ankle known to man kind. I had been lucky of late; I'd say it’s been a good two years since I properly sprained it so I was getting off lightly. That is until now.

I went to the gym quite a bit last week and on Saturday and Sunday as well. I tend to do a class that involves a lot of moving and a lot of jumping and I had noticed my ankle felt a bit stiff and sore, but I passed no remarks and thought it was just my muscles feeling tired from all the work.

Along I went to the gym last night, did the same class and about half way through the pain increased. It was bearable and the competitive side in me would not let me limp off, so I finished the class, came home, did some complaining and went to bed thinking it would be ok in the morning. Boy was I wrong!

Stepped outta bed this morning and I could hardly walk it was so stiff and sore. When I stepped on my right foot I felt this terrible stabbing pain shooting through my ankle. One trip to the pharmacy and twenty euro later, I reckon it’s my ligaments again. I know the feeling of a sprained ankle and it’s definitely not that, plus I didn't exactly go over on it. So bets are that it’s a case of repetitive strain or something. Solution, no gym for me tonight, and an investment in a decent ankle support for when I get back to going next week.
