Aches and Pains
18-08-2010The gym is killing me these days, slowly but surely. I was doing so well and then my gimpy ankle had me out of action so all the good work had pretty much gone to waste as my stamina plummeted and my fitness level took a dive. Back into the swing of things now and although it isn't the case, it almost feels like I am starting over from scratch.
I went to a class last night, one I had mastered before my ankle decided it didn't want to play nice anymore. While I managed to last the fifty minutes, I struggled to walk home afterwards and the minute I sat on the sofa it took me a good twenty minutes to muster the energy to go to the shower. As for the limbs today, I am back walking like John Wayne after he just got shot in the ass and trampled on by the local overweight donkey. Trust me, it is not a pleasant sight to see.
In other ramblings (I would say news, except it is far to boring to warrant that title), I have stumbled across a fantastic new TV show. Regular visitors to this little corner in cyber space will know that we don't actually have TV channels and so we rely on live streaming, DVD box sets and *cough* *splutter* *cough* other means.
Anyways this show is quite frankly a gem of a find. It's called 'Castle' and the story revolves around mystery murder writer who shadows a detective with the NYPD to get inspiration for his new lead character in his next novel. Now I know my description of this fine piece of viewing comes across as more than a little cheesy, perhaps even bordering on a dairy overload, but trust me, it's good. The chemistry between the two lead characters is tangible, the witty put downs are cutting and the sexual heat is palpable. The supporting cast are a great bunch as well, from the writers daughter and mother to the detectives two 'right hand' men. Throw in a dash of murder mystery and you have everything you could possibly want from a TV show. If my sales pitch isn't quite sealing the deal, then check out the promo ad for the upcoming third series - try not to focus too much on the god awful tag line 'She's armed, he's dangerous' it's more of an in joke you will get when you watch the show.
