The early bird catches the jester

Since starting back to work I haven't been sleeping. Granted I am only back to work two days after the break but none the less it has been a long two days since I haven't been getting a good nights kip.

The first night was understandable - almost two weeks of no alarm and lazy lie ins meant I was naturally worried that I might sleep in and therefore I spent the night tossing and turning, mostly awake, cursing my concern for prompt arrival into work the next day. That's natural enough though right? Most people find it hard to sleep the night before going back to work.

Last night, feeling exhausted from the lack of sleep the night before I figured I would be smart and get an early night, only somehow that ended up meaning still hitting the sack after 11pm whereas my original plan had hovered around the 10pm mark. Sure enough I was out like a light. Fast forward a few hours and worried about sleeping in again I was wide awake at 4.30am. So wide awake I was convinced it had to be 7.30am and time to get up. Waking the other half and getting a disgruntled man out of his slumber was not such a good idea.

Still, he can't be too annoyed. The reason I was worried about sleeping in today was because it is his birthday and I wanted to get up before him and make him breakfast in bed. The early riser that he is meant I was convinced he would hear my alarm and be up before me. So I was forgiven for singing happy birthday to him bright eyed and bushy tailed at 4.30am this morning in all my endeavors to make sure I was awake before him come half seven.

So now as my eyes feel like they are hanging out of my head let me take a few sentences in my little cyber spot to wish the man in my life happy birthday. Thank you for loving me with all my little faults and flaws and remember, you are only as young as the girl you feel so stick with me kid and you will always have a few less years weighing you down
